Iain Rogers, M.A. (Cantab.)
I am a scrivener notary, translator and educator. I studied languages at the University of Cambridge from 1991 to 1995, specialising in Russian language and history. I obtained a first-class degree in the summer of 1995 and was awarded the Mallinson prize for academic achievement in language learning.
I have taught notarial practice in one form or another for nearly twenty years. I am currently the course convenor for the second (final) year of the Notarial Practice Course run by University College London. I am also involved in the preparation and running of the Office Practice Course for notaries. All prospective notaries must complete these courses before being admitted to practice.
I lecture on and teach notarial practice to practising notaries nationally and internationally and have acted as examiner or moderator for notarial practice examinations in a number of foreign jurisdictions.
I have been the Education Officer of the Worshipful Company of Scriveners for a number of years. In that role I organise and moderate the Company’s examinations in Advanced Notarial Law and Practice, foreign legal systems, translation and the practical use of languages. I am also on the Qualifications Board that advises the Master of the Faculties on the qualifications and experience of applicants to the profession. I act as a consultant to De Pinna Notaries.
